Rambo (Sylvester) Tjungurrayi

Agency in partnership with Papunya Tula Artists presents a solo exhibition by Rambo (Sylvester) Tjungurrayi.

One of Papunya Tula Artists’ brightest new stars, Rambo Tjungurrayi is the son of Papunya Tula artist Raymond Tjapaltjarri and the grandson of the renowned late Papunya Tula artist Patrick Tjungurrayi and Miriam Napanangka. He lives in Kiwirrkura but along with his family, often travels to visit relatives in Balgo and Mpartnwe (Alice Springs).

Rambo Tjungurrayi draws on the work of his father and grandfather, magnifying elements to create startlingly contemporary, vibrant, and unapologetically kitsch compositions, interweaving ancient tradition and modern Pintupi life.

Gallery open 11am-3pm, Wednesday-Friday, or by appointment.

Artist Talk – 6-8pm, Thursday 27 June

Join Papunya Tula artists Rambo Tjungurrayi and John West Tjupurrula in conversation with Sophie Gerhard, NGV Curator of Australian and First Nations Art at Agency’s gallery on Easey Street in Collingwood.
